For most Asians, especially of the Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese ethnic groups, upper eyelid fold is not readily visible. This is due to the insertion of the levator aponeurosis at the lower part of the eyelid skin, near the edge of the eyelid. Creation of the upper eyelid fold is similar to upper eyelid blepharoplasty, except that the levator aponeurosis is repositioned to pull on the upper part of the eyelid skin.
